The sponsorship program for Indian children, in partnership with FICF (a Swiss organization), supports over 250 children, providing them access to English schooling and opportunities to break the cycle of poverty. Some sponsored children have even graduated from college with this support.
A story shared involved two sisters, Princy Eunice and Mercy Florence, who have been sponsored since 2010. They come from a poor family where their father, a pastor, had an irregular income. In 2017, their father was involved in a car accident, suffering a leg injury that never fully healed. In 2018, his health deteriorated further with the onset of dementia, rendering him unable to work, and he now requires full-time care. Their mother found work in tailoring to support the family.
Thanks to the sponsorship, both Princy and Mercy were able to finish school and attend college.
Princy Eunice
In 2010, OneMaker began supporting Princy Eunice, then a bright young fourth grader with big dreams. Despite the challenges she faced, Princy worked hard and, in 2022, proudly earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Nanjil Catholic College.
After graduation, she took a job at a call center, but her ambition didn’t stop there. Now, as a master’s student in Computer Science, she balances her studies with working at her college to support herself.
Princy’s journey is a story of resilience, hard work, and the power of education. From a child with dreams to a determined young woman, she has shown that with the right support and unwavering dedication, any challenge can be overcome.
Mercy Florence
Mercy Florence’s journey began in the 3rd grade when OneMaker stepped in to support her education. Last year, she proudly completed her bachelor’s degree and is now pursuing a master’s degree in English at Nanjil Catholic College.
Grateful for the support given to her and her sister, Mercy is confident in her future. With her master’s degree in sight, her goal is to secure a job and use her success to help not only her family but to lift other families out of poverty as well.
Her story is one of gratitude, hard work, and a deep desire to give back.
